The Anti Police-Terror Project is a Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. We support families surviving police terror in their fight for justice, documenting police abuses and connecting impacted families and community members with resources, legal referrals, and opportunities for healing. APTP began as a project of the ONYX Organizing Committee.
MH FIRST
MH First provides mental health crisis response, domestic violence safety planning, and substance use and mental health support and destigmatization. Our three person team will use de-escalation techniques, non-punitive and life affirming interventions, safety planning and accompaniment to provide community members with much needed services.
Black Sacramento Demands in Light of COVID-19 and Rates of Black Death
Across the country, Black People are being infected and dying at disproportionate rates from COVID-19. In order to respond effectively to the needs of the Black community our elected officials, health experts, advocates and organizers must take a look at the ways in which the descendants of enslaved people, Black, African and African-Americans are most impacted by this virus through a racial and class lens.
Wellness Fund for Black Women
APTP Sacramento is fundraising to create a general fund for Black Women to be able to join self care retreats. Our goal is to raise $10k and create multiple mini grants/scholarships with the funds. The fund will be used to pay for different recipients self care. Each fund will be different for each person because self care means different things to everyone! Maybe it's a paint night, a spa day, a movie. Help us meet our goal and provide much deserved self care opportunities for Black Women.
JAIL SUPPORT
APTP Sacramento helps people getting out of jail. We charge their phones and offer resources such as snacks, clothing, and blankets as needed. Jail support occurs on the last Monday of every month from 8:00 PM to midnight. Check the APTP Sacramento calendar for more information.
Healing Justice
The Sacramento APTP Healing Justice committee is currently working on healing baskets for families who have lost loved ones at the hands of Sacramento PD. Bags will include self care products donated by the Sacramento community that will remind families that the community is thinking about them.
The Healing Justice committee will also be working on collaborating with MH First by creating a mobile resource guide. This will assist volunteers in accessing resources while on the road or during Jail Support.
